Volunteer Responsibility
WHY DO I HAVE TO WORK AT THE BREAKERS SWIM MEETS?
We require all families to sign up for FIVE VOLUNTEER SLOTS related to our meets or social events. Your Beechview account will be charged $200 at the end of the season if your volunteering requirements are not fulfilled.
The swim team, as with many sports teams, is a family affair. It is critical to the success of the team that parents be involved and volunteer for meets. As a team and club we want to represent Beechview in the best light to other teams and our community. We host only three home meets in the season and want to be a good host in welcoming other teams to our club. In addition, these meets are an important source of revenue for the team.
Not hosting meets would require significantly higher dues. Hosting a meet requires a great deal of work and all families need to contribute time and energy. Most parents find that getting involved is a great way to feel connected to the team, learn more about swim and make new friends. Please refer to the meet schedule to plan ahead for these meets. We ask for family volunteers to assist with jobs that are necessary to run the meets and social activities.
Some examples are timing races, marshaling at the meets, assisting with concession sales, and planning parties. Additional descriptions of these jobs are provided. We require all families to sign up for FIVE VOLUNTEER SLOTS related to our meets or social events. Not to worry, there is no experience needed! On-the-spot training and equipment provided. Booster positions do require additional work, and as a result, filling a booster position fulfills all volunteer responsibilities.
